Miss BumBum 2016 contestants bring traffic to a standstill as they flash their best assets in thong bikinis in Brazil <br />Miss BumBum is now in its seventh year where 27 women will compete to be named as having Brazil's best bottom <br />Yesterday the finalists took part in a 100m sprint in the streets of Brazil's largest city Sao Paulo to mark the contest <br />The finalists are whittled down to 15 with winner will be announced in November during a live final <br /> <br />Kim Kardashian may have broken the internet with her famous derriere but she's got some competition in Brazil. <br />The 27 women competing to be win the title of best bottom in Brazil got into the Olympic spirit yesterday by running in their own 100-metre sprint - in nothing but skimpy bikinis. <br />Hopefuls in the annual Miss Bumbum contest, Brazil's most popular beauty pageant, brought traffic to a standstill as they ran down the famous Avenida Paulista, the main street of the country's biggest city Sao Paulo. <br /> <br />The raunchy race marked the start of the seventh year of the competition, in which the women, each representing a Brazilian state, are whittled down to 15 who then battle it out in a live final. <br />Each of the entrants wore nothing more than a skimpy orange bikini and a sash with the name of the state they their representing emblazoned on it. <br /> <br />The Rio 2016 Olympic Games may have been just around the corner <br />but the women seemed sure to make sure all eyes were on them as they <br />posed for photos. <br />Woman falls off cliff after boyfriend moves his leg away from her <br /> <br />The traffic stopping 27 finalists marched through the streets in trainers so as best to parade their enviable figures. <br />In a country obsessed with the female backside, winners of the hotly-disputed contest become overnight celebrities and often go on to earn millions in modelling contracts and endorsements. <br />The run is the second public outing for the 27 women, who last week posed for photos together on a Sao Paulo beach holding an Olympic flame. <br /> <br />The contestants will now spend the next three months doing whatever they can to win enough telephone votes from the public to win them a place in the grande final on November 9. <br />This year a mother and daughter will compete in the competition for the first time, Bruna Ferraz, 35, representing the state of Rondonia, and Eduardo Morais, 19, for neighbouring northern state Roraima. <br /> <br />And for the first time this year there will be an edition of the competition for over-50s. <br />Ana Paula Saad, 38, representative of Sao Paulo, said: 'Running down the busiest street in Sao Paulo in just a bikini is the least I'm willing to do to get to the finals. I hope I stood out from the rest, and that more people in my home city will vote for me.' <br />Dani Omeles, 27, who is competing for the state of Amazonas, said she had been preparing for the race for the last week. <br />She said: 'I got up at 5am this morning to do some stretches, then spend the rest of the time putting my make-up on. This means everything to me.
